Roger D. "Tater" Tate, age 69, of Washington, passed away at 4:04 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria after heart related complications.
He was born November 18, 1948 in Jonesboro, AR to Vernie Ray and Ruby (Walton) Tate. He married Zoe Ann Sewards in Peoria on July 24, 1990. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Peggy Decker, Lana Franks; and three brothers Eddie Ray Tate, Van Allen Tate and Ronald Eugene Tate.
Surviving are his wife; one sister, Mary Mothershed of Jonesboro, AR; one daughter, Stefanie (Scott) Franks of Eureka; two grandchildren, Malorie (Ben) Franks and Alix Perdue both of East Peoria; two great grandchildren, Reese and Avery; and his beloved West Highland Terrier, Brody.
Roger worked for Federal Warehouse for several years and then was employed by Caterpillar Inc. as a machinist for 31 years retiring in June 2005. After a very short retirement, he went to work at Deiters Funeral Home for 12 years. Roger was a member of Gamber Cove recreational area for 19 years enjoying so many good times.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of Roger's life will be on Sunday, January 28th from 1-3:00 p.m. at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory Meadow Valley Center in Washington. Private burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
