WASHINGTON - Mary Y. Clampitt Lander, 76, of Washington, IL, died at 10:50 pm Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at OFS Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL.
Born in Quincy, IL on August 6, 1940 to Orville and Evelyn Carl Clampitt, she married Gary A. Lander on July 24, 1976. He survives.
Also surviving are a sister, Sharol L.(Mike) Minger of Eureka, IL, a son, Michael L. (Nancy) Lane of Kennesaw, GA, daughters, Shari L (Keith) Bennett, of Trevor, WI, Gara M. Lander (Ryan) Larson of Pacifica, CA and (step) daughter, Gayle A. (Bill) Ninis, of Pinellas Park, FL, Grandchildren: Riley A. Lane, Madalyn I. Lane, Avery R. Lane, Zachary T. Bennett, Alex M. Bennett, Lincoln N. Larson, and Parker W. Ninis. Two Step-Grandsons, Noah R. and Lucca M. Larson. Also 2 nephews, Greg (Tara) Minger of Eureka, IL, Ted (Ingrid) Minger of Tuscola, IL, a niece Michelle Minger of Clarenden Hills, IL, and 4 great nephews, Branden, Matthew, and Caleb Minger of Eureka, and Brayson Minger of Tuscola, and a great niece Bronwyn Minger of Tuscola and a special thanks to Melissa Cool who has been a wonderful caretaker and friend.
Preceding her in death are her parents and a brother, Orville Mark Clampitt, and two great nephews, Ryne and Alex Minger.
She taught school for 34 years, including 2 years in Belvidere, IL, 4 years in Pekin, IL, one year in Metamora, IL, and the last 27 years in Washington District 52 from where she retired in 1999.
She was a member of Quincy High School Alumni Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, Illinois Retired Teachers, and Illinois Educators Association. Also, she was an active member of Crossroads United Methodist Church of Washington.
The most important part of her life was her church and her family.
Services will be at 10 am Monday, March 13, 2017 at Crossroads United Methodist Church in Washington. Pastor Jason Woolever will officiate. Visitation will be from 2-4 pm Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria, IL.
