Geneva M. Wytcherley, 94, of Washington, IL died at 10:10 pm Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Washington Christian Village in Washington.
Born on June 27, 1923 in Canton, IL to Elza and Winnie Mae Yard Robinson, she married Glen Arthur Wytcherley on February 16, 1946 in Peoria, IL. He preceded her in death on September 16, 2004.
Surviving are 3 daughters, Karen (Scott) Gossett of Washington, IL, Linda Wytcherley of Chatham, IL and Debbie (Tom) Otten of Peoria, IL, 7 Grandchildren; Karina (Michael) Hand of Washington, IL, Scott (Lori) Gossett Jr. of Aurora, IL, Angela (Kevin) Hermes and Sarah (Lance) Nelson, both of Chatham, IL, Josh (Michelle) Otten of Bartonville, IL, Chelsey (Scott) Piscaglia of Germantown Hills, IL, and Danny Otten of Bartonville, IL, and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister, 1 infant sister, and 1 infant brother.
Geneva enjoyed serving her country in the WAVES US Naval Reserve during World War II, where she attained the rank of Yeoman Second Class.
She retired from Hiram Walker and Sons Distillery after working on the bottling line for 31 years. She also worked as a waitress at Shady Oaks Supper Club in Peoria.
She was of the Fundamentalist faith and loved fishing, bowling, crafting, helping others, her three daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent time playing Yahtzee, doing crossword puzzles, cooking for her family and making the best pies and cookies which were considered family treasures.
She was a kind-hearted, giving and loving person. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Services for Geneva will be at 11:30 am Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Pastor Jim Gorby will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria where military rites will be conducted by the US Navy.
Memorials may be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital or to Habitat for Humanity for Veterans families.
