Our History

Having a passion for their work and a desire to be closer to family, the Deiters family acted upon the opportunity to provide the community of Washington with a better funeral service option. Their dreams of funeral home ownership became a reality with the opening of the facility at 2075 Washington Road in February 1999. For 27 years, Stephanie guided the business faithfully, finding new ways to serve families through on-site cremation and pet services, while maintaining a commitment to support our local community and raising her family in the funeral home apartment.

As of October 7, 2026, Madison Fox, along with her husband, Pat, are proud to be the new owner of Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory and Deiters Pet Services, but most importantly, to be the next family to be the stewards of this business.

This transition will not only continue the legacy that the Deiters Family began in 1999, but also bring a fresh energy, vision, and leadership perspective, ensuring that the highest level of personal care that our families expect and deserve will continue.

“Fifteen years after I first came here as a practicum student finishing my mortuary science program, this is an overwhelmingly meaningful moment for me. Being trusted by Stephanie Deiters to be the legacy keeper of the business she founded, a business that I have loved and helped nurture, that has in turn helped nurture me, is amazing. Funeral service is deeply personal for me and is part of who I am. Our mission is to exceed the expectations of every family that calls on us for care and to elevate funeral service in our area. It is the bar I set for myself and for the incredible team of professionals that make our business run and serve so well.

Corporate ownership and large scale, non-local operators have dominated the funeral home landscape in the tri-county area for decades. Yet, we remain locally owned, community focused, and truly a place where our family cares for yours. We are excited for this new chapter, full of growth, love and service.

So many local families have allowed us to step into the dark moments of their lives, and we cherish the relationships built as a result. Looking forward, we thank you for continuing to trust us at a time when a personal touch and a compassionate presence make all the difference.”  -Madison Fox
