Having a passion for her work and a desire to be closer to family, Stephanie Deiters acted upon the opportunity to provide the community of Washington, Illinois with a better funeral service option. Her dreams of funeral home ownership became a reality with the opening of the facility at 2075 Washington Road in Washington in February of 1999. A human crematory and a pet service/pet crematory were also added in 2008. In 2019, the entire facility was remodeled to reflect the needs of the families they serve.
Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory is a proud member of the Illinois Funeral Directors Association, the National Funeral Directors Association and Selected Independent Funeral Homes. They are also annual recipients of the IFDA’s Award of Funeral Service Distinction, and the NFDA’s Pursuit of Excellence Awards.
Community involvement has always been an important part of the funeral home. They participate in Operation Honor Guards Annual Day of Giving, are board members and preceptors of students from the Carl Sandburg Mortuary Science Program, participate in the Red Cross Operation Prom Night, are actively involved in various programs with the local Chamber of Commerce and Park District, serve as officers and members of various community organizations such as Rotary, and participate in several Senior and Pet Expos in the area.
