Obituary East Peoria - Zelda Iona Barder, 106, of East Peoria, passed away on Wednesday March 14, 2012 at 1:30 PM at OSF St Clare Home in Peoria Heights. She was born on July 7, 1905 in Cardiff, IL, the daughter of George Edward and Bertha Vetter Cornell. She was married to Sam Amenda and Bob Barder, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by 1 son, Ray, an infant daughter, brothers Ray, Tip, and Henry and sisters Agnes, Clara, Mae and Bertha and her parents. Zelda in survived by many nieces and nephews, including Lea Hedgecock, Kenny (Sandy) Eaton, Pat Redenius, Michele (Art) Romane and many other great and great- great nieces and nephews around the country. She dearly loved seeing all the new babies being born into the country. She was a pie and cake baker of great renown, having worked in various resturaunts in Peoria, making up to 100 pies in a day. She loved to cook and eat out. Zelda never forgot a good meal. She also enjoyed travel and going fishing with her family. Zelda was the kind of awesome aunt every child should have. She was kind and funny and generous to a fault. Her family all knew her as Aunt Yi-Yi and still called her that. The family would like to thank OSF St Clare Home staff and administration and OSF Hospice for their kind and loving care over the many years she was a resident and also to Herb and Gebbie who always made each birthday very special with all the residents and their family members. May God bless each and every person who took such good care of her. There will be a graveside service for Zelda at 2 PM on Friday March 23, 2012 at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
