Obituary EAST PEORIA - Wilmer 'Bill' Spencer, 69, of East Peoria, died at 8:20 PM on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 while surrounded by his families love at his home. Bill was born in Gibson City, Illinois on September 22, 1938 to William C. and Pearl L. (Lower) Spencer. He married Barbara Lee Bruce on August 21, 1959 and later married Susan M. Wiegand on December 26, 1975 in East Peoria, she survives. Also surviving are three daughters Diane (Tom) Doddek , Jeanne Schlink both of Normal, and Amy (Josh) McCoy of Washington; one son Michael Spencer of East Peoria; one brother Robert (Sue) Spencer of Richmond, OH; six grandchildren Jessica and Jordan Doddek, Michelle (Adam) May, Brittany and Travis Schlink, and Spencer McCoy; and his mother-in-law, Gisela Hall of East Peoria. He was preceded in death by one daughter Heidi Pearl; one brother William Thomas Spencer; and one sister Annabelle Spencer. Bill worked as a Director and Manager in information technology with IBM, MAI, Sorbus, Decision One and Bell Atlantic. He also had worked with Al Wiegand Inc., and retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 2005. Bill served in the Army. He was a member of the American Legion, Mid Illini Jeep Club and had been a member of Local #649 Operators Union. Bill had also attended Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria. A service to celebrate the life of Wilmer 'Bill' Spencer will be held at Deiters Funeral Home in East Peoria on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at 5 PM. Chaplain Steve Wiegand will be officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 3-4:45 PM also at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
