Wilma June Rice, age 95, of Overland Park, Kansas, formerly of East Peoria, Illinois, joined her Heavenly Father on June 27, 2023.

Wilma was born March 3, 1928, in DeKalb, Illinois, to William O. and Frances M. Yates. She married Herbert Rice in 1950 in Glasford, Illinois, and was married to him for 73 years.

She is survived by her two daughters Donna (Ivan) Glasco, and Debbie (John) Potter, and her daughter-in-law, Sherrie Rice; and grandchildren, Lauren and Jason Rice, Bryana Glasco, and Stephen, Allison, and Jenna Potter. Also surviving are her siblings, Nancy, Sally, Patsy, Annette, and Tom along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Rice, and her son, Daniel Rice as well as her parents, and siblings Joanne, Allen, Janet, Edward, Dorothy, and Diana.

She enjoyed gardening, bowling, sewing quilts for the church and attending church activities as well as being outdoors and watching the birds. She also loved to play Bingo and Yahtzee in her later years. She will be greatly missed for her giving and caring nature, her beautiful smile, and enormous love for her grandchildren and family with whom she enjoyed vacationing and spending time. She will also be missed by friends and staff at Tallgrass Community Living Center and also, the nurses and staff at Crossroad Hospice and Palliative Care who lovingly took care of her during her final days.

Funeral service will be Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 1:30 pm at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Entombment will be at American Mausoleum in Peoria.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blessings Abound or Faith Lutheran Church.
