Obituary
WASHINGTON-Wilma M. Franks, 85, of Washington, IL died at 11:53 PM Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Manor Care at Riverview in East Peoria, IL.
Wilma was born March 1, 1928 in Parsons, TN to Louise Marshall Tyler. She was raised by her maternal grandparents, Kelly and Sallie Marshall. She married Robert E. Franks on July 18, 1952 in Corinth, MS. He preceded her in death May 9, 2013.
Surviving are two daughters; Cindy (Jerry) Harris and Sheila Genovese, both of Washington; four grandchildren, Robert (Stephanie) Harris, Brandy (Will) Meyers, Justin Franks, and Jakob Genovese; six great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Margaret Lou Tyler, 2 brothers, Amzel (Patty) Tyler, and Thomas Tyler; and 2 relatives she was raised with, Edna (Curtis) Dickson and Bethel (E.L.) Taylor, who were like sisters, all of Parsons, TN.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother.
Wilma was a born again Christian. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Washington, where she served on the kitchen committee. She attended Brown's Business College before she and her husband started their family and then was a homemaker. She enjoyed her husband's garden and canning. She was a good neighbor who was generous and friendly, who loved her family.
Funeral Services will be held at 11am Wednesday June 5, 2013 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Pastor Eric Dupree will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow services at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in rural Morton.
