Obituary
William E. "Bill" Owsley, 83, of East Peoria, passed away at 4:20am, Friday, September 19, 2014 at Morton Terrace Care Center in Morton.
Bill was born January 10, 1931 in West Frankfort to Virgil E. and Annabelle Thorpe Owsley; they preceded him in death. He was married to Mary Salter Owsley for 34 years.
Surviving are their children, Linda (Ernest) Bland, Karen (Jay) Laing, Cathy Owsley, all of Washington; Diane (Kevin) Lovell of East Peoria; Allen (June) Owsley of Mackinaw; William E. Owsley, Jr. and Paul (Krista) Owsley both of Washington; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and siblings, Gladys (Don) Heaton of East Peoria; Danny Owsley, Terry (Norma) Owsley, both of Pekin; and Lana Peters of Mexico, MO.
Bill retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. in 1982 after 35 years of service as a machinist. He was the ultimate outdoorsman, who hunted, trapped, and fished. He also raised mink for a time, hunted ginseng and loved to vegetable garden. Bill enjoyed square dancing, and belonged to many dancing groups over the years, and was an NTRA coach in Sunnyland.
The family will receive visitors in celebration of Bill's life from 5-7:00pm, Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Cremation rites have been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
