William "Lyle" McGrann, 99, of Washington, died peacefully Monday, January 3, 2022 at Snyder Village in Metamora, Illinois.

Lyle was born August 21, 1922 in Colchester, Illinois to the late William and Edna McGrann.  He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Melvin, Harold and Russell; and a twin sister, Lila.  He married Alice Lavene Millam on February 13, 1946 and she preceded him in death in February 2012 shortly after their 66 ^th anniversary.

Lyle is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sana and Rick Becker of Washington; granddaughters, Annie (Zak) Wilson of Jefferson City, MO, and Emily (Pete) Hampton of Peoria; five great-grandchildren, Jacob, Alex and Abram Wilson, and Ben and Lilly Hampton; and his special canine buddy, Frank.  He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Lyle served in both the European and Pacific Theatres in World War II as a staff sergeant and participated in the September 2016 Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.  It was one of the great highlights of his later years.

Following his service, Lyly worked his entire career as a salesman at Galesburg Auto Supply.  In retirement, he drove for Bruce Foote Chevrolet, an experience he loved; if Lyle was around cars, he was happy.  He enjoyed fishing, keeping an immaculate yard, and watching the Cubs.  Lyle made friends wherever he went and loved sharing stories with anyone who cared to listen.

Due to concerns over the current Covid surge, cremation rights have been accorded, and a celebration of Lyle's life will be held on or around his 100 ^th birthday this summer.  Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lyle's name to the Greater Peoria Honor Flight, PO Box 5072, Peoria, IL 61601.
