Obituary WASHINGTONa"William C. "Bill" Lankford, 78, of Morton formerly of Bartonville, died at 1:55 PM on Friday, July 25, 2008 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. Born on February 7, 1930 in Moberly, MO, to William H. and Edna L. Mileham Lankford, he married Jennie Mae McKay on July 27, 1957 in Kansas City, KS. She preceded him in death on June 7, 2007 in Morton, IL. Surviving is his daughter, Marilyn (Loy) Cletcher of Bartonville, IL; 2 grandsons, Everett (Stacey) Cletcher of Peoria and Matthew (Kathy) Cletcher of Bartonville; 6 great grandchildren, Caleb and Mara Cletcher, Mark Frey, and Jake and Taylor Fletcher; 1 brother, Douglas Lankford of Moberly, MO; and 1 sister, Susie (Robert) Kappler of Summerville, SC; and his special friend, Louise Hanning. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bill was a US Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. He worked for the Wabash-Norfolk Western Railroad before retiring after 35 years of service. Bill was a member of Dayton Avenue Baptist Church since 1969, where he served as a deacon. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Dayton Avenue Baptist Church in Peoria. Rev. James Richardson and Rev. Sunny Mooney will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Deiters Funeral Home in Washington is in charge of arrangements.
