Obituary
WEST PEORIA-William A. "Bill" Frazier, 87, of West Peoria, IL died at 5:06 am Monday, December 20, 2010 at Greater Peoria Specialty Hospital in Peoria, IL.
Born on February 6, 1923 in Morrison, TN to Colonel Wiley and Ophia Edwards Frazier, he married Cora Mae Elrod on September 8, 1947 in Rossville, GA. She died on October 6, 1969. He later married Shirley Ludwig on August 25, 1973 in Peoria, IL. She died on July 19, 1984.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Brenda (Tom) Eeten of East Peoria, IL and Peg (Bob Maykuth) Kenney-Maykuth of Tinley Park, IL; 1 sister, Edith Duncan of Manchester, TN; 1 brother, Harold (Virginia) Frazier of Sunnyland, IL; 10 grandchildren, Scott Kenney, Jeff (Judy) Kenney, Shannon Kenney, Shelly (Andrew Washington) Kenney-Washington, Shawn Maykuth, Chris Maykuth, Chad Maykuth, Lorrie (Scott) Venzon, Mike Eeten, Jason (Katy) Eeten and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 1 grandson, Brian, 3 brothers, and 1 sister.
Bill was a US Army veteran, serving during World War II. He was a gunner on a half-track, fighting on Iwo Jima and witnessed the raising of the US Flag on Mt. Suribachi.
He worked on the assembly line in building SS at Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria, IL, retiring in 1985 after 37 years of service. Bill was part of the Grace Presbyterian Family. He enjoyed building birdhouses, playing Mexican Dominoes, doing yard work, and loved gardening.
Funeral services will be 11 am Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. Rev Doug Lightly will officiate. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin, IL. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at the funeral home. Additional visitation will be 1 hour prior to services at the funeral home on Thursday.
