Obituary
EAST PEORIAa"William J. "Bill" Feger, 71, of East Peoria, died at 2:30 PM on Friday, January 19, 2007 at his residence.
Born on September 2, 1935 in Peoria, IL to Herman R. and Golda M. Christopher Feger, he married his wife of 50 years, Shirley A. Gossman on August 4, 1956 in Groveland, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are 3 daughters, Debra J. (Thomas) Majewski of East Peoria, Cynthia (Vernon) Cox of Groveland, and Theresa L. (Dennis) Gualandi of East Peoria; 1 son, William A. "Tony" (Melinda) Feger of Marquette Heights; 6 grandchildren, Noah Majewski, Elby Joe Cox, Nicole Gualandi, and Devin, Damick and Andrew Feger; and 1 brother, Barry Feger of San Bernadino, CA.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph John on November 4, 1970, one brother, Robert H. Feger, and 3 grandchildren, Anthony Dale, Lewis Wayne and Paige Joann Cox.
Bill began work at Caterpillar, Inc. as a high school coop student and later went on to become a foreman. He worked for 45 years at the Mapleton Foundry before he retired in 1997.
He was an avid car enthusiast, having been an original member of the Canton Gear Jammers. He enjoyed street rods, classic cars, or just plain old cars. He attended many car shows, where he found his dream cara"a 1934 5-window Ford coup, with a Chevy engine.
Bill had a passion for archery and shot as a team with his wife Shirley. He was involved with the Peoria Archers and the Illinois Archery Association, and also helped start the local Junior Olympic Archery Association. He shot in local, state and national tournaments, and had achieved 2 perfect scores.
A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at Deiters Funeral Home in East Peoria. The Rev. Dr. George Estel Hines will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services from 10-11AM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
