Obituary

Obituary William Harlen "Bill" Fager, 87, of Washington, passed away at 11:53am Sunday, June 19, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Bill was born May 15, 1929 in Murphysboro, IL to the late William Ray and Nellie Irene (Nausley) Fager. He married the love of his life, Beverly J. Bastien, on July 23, 1954 in Ava, IL. She preceded him in death on August 12, 2010. Surviving are their children, Barb (Kenny) Childers, Kris Fager, both of Washington, Daryl (Debbie) Fager of East Peoria, and Dave (Laura) Fager of Washington; grandkids, Michael, Amanda, Jennifer; Carilyn; Ashley, Joshua, and Jarred; great-grandkids, Mackenzie, Macy, Petra, Elric, Henry, Trenton, and Weston; siblings, Frieda Maxedon and Albert Fager; and his beloved Yorkie, Rudy. He was also preceded in death by a brother, James Fager. Bill retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. in 1991, after 38 years of service. Always a farmer at heart, he spent much of his childhood working with his dad on the family farm. Working on the farm gave him a lifelong love for the outdoors and gave him the skills to fix anything. He served in the US Army from 1951-1952 during the Korean War. Bill loved his family more than anything and enjoyed spending time with all of them, especially watching his grandkids play sports. He loved his neighborhood families, and enjoyed being an extra dad and grandpa to them; his family thanks those neighbors for being so wonderful to him. A funeral service for Bill will be held at 10:00am Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be 5-7:00pm Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Glendale cemetery in Washington, with military honors. Pastor Nathan Green will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to EP!C or TAPS.
