Obituary William Emert, 78, of Washington, formerly of Peoria Heights, passed away at 12:35am, Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at UnityPoint Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. He was born February 7, 1936 in San Juan, Texas to Joseph Russell and Esther Marie Graham Emert; they preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his companion of 25 years, Nancy Gabbert; three brothers, and one sister. Surviving are his children, Cherie (Rob) Murphy of Washington, Russ (Jessica) Emert of East Peoria, and Dan (Chandra) Emert of Bartonville; nine grandchildren, Ryan Jenkins, Stephanie Autry, Greg Jenkins, Jamie Stear, Allison Emert, Ashley Emert, Danielle Stoezer, Jeremey Emert, and Jesse Emert; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Jasmine Stear; and one sister, Mary Lou Warick of Peoria. Bill was an avid sports fan, especially of the Chicago Bears and St. Louis Cardinals. He loved his family and hearing about his grandchildren. Going to watch his granddaughters play softball was something he loved to do. Bill served as a medic in the US Army, and had worked as a carpenter and carpet layer. A memorial visitation will held from 1:00-3:00pm, Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the East Peoria Girls Fastpitch Association.
