Obituary MORTONa"William Harl "Bill" Dickey, 90, of Morton, formerly of Washington, died at 5:40 PM on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at his residence. He was born on June 18, 1918 in Finger, TN to Sam and Dora Vandiver Dickey. They preceded him in death. Surviving are 3 sons, Travis H. (Kathryn) Dickey of El Paso, George A. (Linda) Dickey of Forest City, IL, and Larry G. Dickey of Morton; 1 daughter, Dena (Brian) Day of Washington; 3 brothers, Adell "George" Dickey of Woodson, IL; Herman Dickey of Peoria, and S. D. Dickey of St. Louis, MO; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers. Bill was a US Army veteran serving during World War II. He began working at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in East Peoria as a machinist, and then worked in Office Services before retiring in 1980 after 29 years of service. He also worked as a sales rep for Watkins for many years in Washington. Bill never met a stranger; he always had a smile and positive attitude. His hobby was his family, which he was very dedicated to helping. He was a very spiritual person, with a strong Baptist faith. He will be greatly missed. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, October 11 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Friday, October 10 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Spring Bay Cemetery.
