Obituary WASHINGTON - Willard May Jr., 87, of Washington, died at 2:35 am Thursday, June 26, 2008 at Washington Christian Village in Washington. He was born on July 8, 1920 to Willard and Wilma Lee Parks May Sr. Surviving are 1 son, Richard (Jackie) May of Purcellville, VA, 3 grandsons, Michael, Benjamin, and Jeffrey May, 1 stepdaughter, Delores Rockey of Peoria, IL and 1 stepson, David Brusick of Bumpass, VA and dear friends Al Haisch and Delores Wagstaff. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 1 sister. Willard was a US Coast Guard veteran serving actively for 12 years and 18 years as a reservist. He proudly served aboard the Coast Guard Cutters Northland and Comanche on the North Atlantic, then served on the LST 761 during the invasion of Iwo Jima where he delivered troops and supplies. He retired from Central Illinois Light Co. after 30 years of service. Willard was a member of the German- American Society, where he sang with the Harmonie Singers. Services will be at 11 am Monday, June 30, 2008 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. The Pastor David Garner will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services, from 10-11 am. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton where military rites will be conducted by the United States Coast Guard. Memorials may be made to Sunnyland Church of the Nazarene or Washington Christian Village.
