Obituary Willard W. Hanson, 85, of Peoria, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 9:33pm at his home. Willard was born September 25, 1928 in Elk Creek, MO to David W. and Vesta J. Dennis Hanson. He married Marilyn Youngman December 24, 1949 in Pekin; she preceded him in death in 2009. Surviving are his daughters, Patty (Larry) Clemens of Chillicothe and Peggy (Bob) Judkins of Peoria; grandson, Nathan Futrell of Texas; one brother, Evert (Dorothy) Hanson of Marquette Heights; and one sister, Vera (William) Gladden of Houston, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Darrell Hanson and Dale Hanson. Willard came to the area in 1949 and began a career with the Caterpillar Tractor Co. He retired from Cat in 1982 after 38 years of service, working last as a Foundryman. He served his country in the US Army from 1951-1953. Willard enjoyed fishing and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. Funeral services for Willard will be held at 1:30pm Friday, October 25, 2013 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory, East Peoria. Visitation will be from 12 noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Fondulac Cemetery, East Peoria. The family also expresses their gratitude for the medical team at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, the team at Illinois Cancer Care in Peoria, the nurses at Methodist ICU and on the Hamilton floor, as well as the Methodist Medical Center Hospice team and Colleen with Methodist Home HealthCare.
