Obituary
WASHINGTON--Wilfreda C. "Skip" Woodward, 88, formerly of Washington, died at 2:40 AM, on Monday, October 8, 2007 at Heartland Health Care Center in Henry, IL. She was born on April 24, 1919 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Edward H. and Wilfreda Osfeld Witte. She married George J. Woodward on June 22, 1946 in Cincinnati, OH. He survives. Also surviving are 3 daughters, Cathy (Scott) Perz of Crystal Lake, IL, Suzie (Ken) Pilon of Peoria, IL, and Mary Helen (Jerry) Solan of Hawthorn Woods, IL; and 6 grandchildren, Brent and Greg Perz, Mark Pilon, and John, Robert and Emily Solan. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother. Skip received her B. S. and B. E. from the University of Cincinnati, and after raising her daughters, she taught the primary grades for District 52 in Washington for 22 years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, and was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the St. Patrick Catholic Church Women's Guild. She also was a member of the Tazewell County Retired Teachers and enjoyed playing bridge and treasured the impact she made on her students' lives. A funeral mass will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington. Visitation will be held from 5 - 7 PM on Wednesday, October 10 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. Additional visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton, IL.
