Obituary
Creve Coeur - Wilbur Dean Neumann, 75, of Creve Coeur, passed away at 8:33 PM on Wednesday March 13, 2013 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria after a short battle with brain cancer. Wilbur was born on September 22, 1937 in Peoria to Lester and Martha Stock Neumann. He married Sharon Kay Newcomb on June 28, 1958 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are his three children; Jeffrey of Washington, Craig of Chicago, Deborah of Washington, two grandsons; Justin (Khristie Stanton) Neumann of Marquette Heights, Joshua (Trisha) Neumann of Marquette Heights and three great-grandchildren; Leah Stanton, Andrew Stanton, and Tatum Neumann. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son David Neumann.
Wilbur graduated from Peoria High School in 1955. He served nine years in the US Army Reserves and was an active member of the American Legion Post 1234. He was known by many as a salesman in the building materials industry for forty-five years. He was a long time square dancer as well as an accomplished carpenter and woodworker which supported his tool shopping habit. He was known as "the bouncer" in the wood shop at their winter home in Tuscon, Arizona. He thoroughly enjoyed hosting many legendary pool parties, traveling, playing golf, as well as any activities that included food. He was an avid pet lover and known for spoiling the many pets of his family and friends.
There will be a memorial service for Wilbur on Tuesday March 19, 2013 at 11 AM at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. Pastor Bob DeBolt will officiate. There will be a visitation on Monday from 5-7 at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Mid-West Affiliate.
