Obituary Wendy Wittekiend, 65, of Germantown Hills, formerly of Washington, passed away peacefully at 6:02pm on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, with her family at her side. She was born on July 30, 1950 to Donald and Mildred Shirrell Buschbom in Peoria, Il. She grew up in the Washington area and graduated from Washington Community High School in 1968. Wendy married Mark Wittekiend on May 1, 1971, and they were happily married for 45 years. Wendy is survived by her husband Mark; son Ryan (Bethany); daughter Jennifer; brother Rick (Lisa); and sisters-in-law Anne Wittekiend and Pam Mangene. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Sheri. Wendy was a wonderful wife and mother and very proud of being a stay-at-home mom. She was fiercely loyal to her family and friends. After her children were grown, Wendy embarked on a career in food service at Illinois Central College from 1997 to 2010 where she made many outstanding friends. She also loved horses and spent many glorious days at the Rocking P Ranch in Pekin. Two of her favorite things to do were travelling to Las Vegas with her husband and dining at the Lariat Steak House with friends. Wendy had a special fondness for her three cats, Toby, Ace, and Bailey and loved all animals. The family wants to thank the staff at OSF Intensive Care Unit for their constant care and to Sister Jacqueline Schroeder for her loving kindness and pastoral care. The family also wants to thank the staff at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, who made Wendy's final days very respectful, peaceful and loving. Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with cremation rites. Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
