SUNNYLAND--Wayne R. Rennau, 79, of Sunnyland, died at 10:34 PM, on Sunday, October 1, 2006 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
Born on May 28, 1927 in Peoria, Illinois to Roy and Margaret Russell Rennau, he married Clarice Brush on March 9, 1946 in Reno, Nevada; Clarice survives.
Also surviving are 2 sons, Jerry (Pat) Rennau of Washington, Randall (Karen) Rennau of Peoria; 1, daughter, Susan (Jack) Knight of Washington; 2 brothers, Francis (Rose) Rennau of Mona Park, FL, Jack (Donna) Rennau of Washington; 2 sisters, Evelyn Smith of Peoria; Judy (Art) Mott of Galva, IL, 2 grandsons, J. D. (Alison) Knight of Morton, Sean Rennau of Chicago, 2 granddaughters, Stephanie (Rick) Ferrell of Trivoli and Samantha Rennau of Washington and 5 great grandchildren, Gabe Knight, Cooper Knight, Olivia Knight, Andy Ferrell, and Abby Ferrell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one sister.
He served in the Pacific with the Navy during WWII.
Wayne was a barber for 30 years at Wayne's Barber Shop in Sunnyland. He owned and operated Spudnuts Donut Shop in Sunnyland. He later worked in circulation for the Journal Star until his retirement.
He was selected into the Greater Peoria Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1997. Wayne was an avid bowler, fisherman, and Cubs Fan.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. The Rev. Gary Davey will officiate. Visitation will be held two hours prior to services from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following services.
