Obituary WASHINGTON - Wayne L. Pruett, 60, of Washington, IL, died at 8:40 am Thursday, May 1, 2008 at his home. Born on June 20, 1947 in Dallas, Georgia to George E. and Lola Clide Parsons Pruett, he married Brenda Swearingen on October 11, 1969 in Washington, IL. She survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Amanda Pruett and Emily (Darrell) Wiegand, both of Washington, 4 brothers, Donald (Claudia) Pruett of Centre, AL, Doug (Connie) Pruett of Dallas, GA, Max (Penny) Pruett of Waco, GA, and David (Lisa) Pruett of Holly Springs, GA, 1 sister, Nancy (Dennis) Teal of Rockmart, GA and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 1 brother, Paul. Wayne was a US Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. Wayne worked as a mechanic at Yancey Brothers in Atlanta, GA and also at Peoria Tractor in Peoria. For the past 33 years, he has worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co. He was currently a Training Instructor in Service Training, enjoying the global travel that came with his work. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, wood working, and being a barbecue grill master. Wayne also enjoyed visiting family and going on vacations. A beloved family member, Wayne will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family, his kind heartedness, his generous nature, and for never meeting a stranger. Services will be at 10 am Monday, May, 5, 2008 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. Bill Rhoades will officiate. Visitation will be from 2-4 pm Sunday, May 4, 2008 at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Inurnment will be at a later date at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Midwest Affiliate or Shriner's Children's Hospital.
