Obituary East Peoria- Wanda Kathleen Carlson Paulsen, 92 of East Peoria and formerly of Aitkin, MN, passed away at 6:43 PM on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria. Wanda was born on July 30, 1920 on the family farm in Woodward, IA to William and Minnie Appenzeller Peoples. She married C.C. "Swede" Carlson in July of 1942. He predeceased her on April 6, 1983. Wanda later married Bud Paulsen in 1990. He predeceased her in November 2002. Surviving are two daughters, Cathy Carlson of Boulder, CO and Carol (Donald) Brubaker of East Peoria; four grandsons, Bryan (Audra) Bergland, Scott (Courtney) Walton, Todd (Glenna) Bergland and Brett "BG" (Shannon) Walton; nine great-grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle, Allie, Emma, Gracie, C.J., Susie, Ginger and Zachary. Wanda was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Kenneth Peoples and one sister, Mary Jane Frye. Wanda was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church in Washington. She enjoyed bowling and did many social activities while residing at Riverview Senior Living in East Peoria. Wanda was proud to have played in the State Women's Basketball Tournament in 1937 during her high school years. Honoring Wanda's wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Service will take place at 11:30 AM on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Crossroads United Methodist Church in Washington. Pastor Tom Goodell will officiate. Visitation will take place at the church on Friday from 10:30 AM until the time of service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington.
