Wanda A. Aultman, 73, of East Peoria, passed away on April 4, 2023 at UnityPoint Methodist at 12:29 pm.

She was born on October 17, 1949 to the late Elnora (Parnell) and Edwin Zimmerman in Peoria. She married the love of her life Donald Aultman on June 7, 1968 in Pekin. He survives.

Wanda is also survived by her two beloved children; Heidi (Katie) Heath, and Don Jr. (Amber) Aultman; three of her siblings; Sue (Danny) Conrad, Jerry (Kim) Zimmerman, and Tammy (Don) Bailey; two grandchildren; Aaron Aultman, and Austin Johnson; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Peggy; and her great-niece, Peggy.

Wanda first started her career as a cosmetologist. After working as a cosmetologist for a short period of time, Wanda decided to make a career change. She became a custodian at Parkview school and quickly advanced to the lead custodian. After 17 years of hard work and dedication she decided to retire.

Wanda had a knack for crafting and would spend much of her time devoted to it. She enjoyed crocheting in her spare time and creating wonderful works of art. Wanda also loved betting on the horses. She also enjoyed going fishing and playing bingo from time to time. Wanda was also known as the lone survivor of a stem cell transplant back in 1991. She had endured a lot in her lifetime, however, she was a fighter and would not give up! She had a child-like giggle that would bring even the toughest guy to laughter.

Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements. Cremation rites will be accorded. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the go fund me that was created to help cover medical and funeral expenses.
