Obituary Walter D. Frakes, 82, of Washington, passed away at 10:15am Monday, March 13, 2017 at his home. He was born November 2, 1934 in Peoria to Leo and Bessie Newberry Frakes. He married the love of his life, Beverly A. Bartsch on May 27, 1955 in Peoria. They enjoyed 53 years together until she passed away December 16, 2008. Surviving are two children, Walter (Janet) Frakes, Lori (Quint) Koehl and son-in-law, John Thieme, all of Washington; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie, Bob, Emily, Abby, Joe, John, Scott, Sally, Will, and Jack; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Butch (Joni) Frakes and Shirley (Lynn) Syrdale; and mother-in-law, Nellie Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lisa Thieme; and several siblings. Walter opened Hi-Line Supply Co. in 1959 and was active in the business from that time forward. He was a great sports fan and enjoyed golfing. He took great pride in raising race horses, a hobby he loved, for many years. He had a keen sense of humor and was very generous and kind. Most important to him was family; he loved each of them, especially his grandkids. A funeral service for Walter will be held at 10:00am Friday, March 17, 2017 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be from 5-7:00pm Thursday, March 16, 2017 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Pastor Bob DeBolt will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital-Midwest Affiliate.
