Obituary WASHINGTON- Vivian G. Brown, 87, of Washington, formerly of East Peoria passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 8:25 A.M. at Morningside of Washington. Vivian was born on April 22, 1929 in Peoria to William and Ruth Bowker McCowan. She married Eugene Brown on May 1, 1949 in Peoria. They later divorced. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister, Verna Mear in 1975 and her brother, PFC James McCowan, who was killed during World War II in 1945. Vivian is survived by her two sons, Dale (Jenny) Brown of East Peoria and Rich "Duane" (Pat) Brown of Washington; five grandsons; and six great-grandchildren. Vivian worked at Caterpillar as an office assistant in payroll benefits, retiring in 1991. Following her retirement, Vivian volunteered with UnityPoint Methodist Hospice. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in East Peoria. Vivian loved her family and cherished each moment she spent with her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed. Her family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Morningside of Washington and Hospice Compassus for their sincere care and compassion. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in East Peoria or UnityPoint Methodist Hospice. A funeral service for Vivian will be held on Monday, May 16, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. Pastor Mary Arnold will officiate. There will be a visitation on Sunday, May 15, 2016 from 2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Fondulac Township Cemetery in East Peoria.
