Obituary

Obituary Virgie G. Clauson, 100, of Washington, formerly of Peoria, passed away at 10:05pm Saturday February 25, 2017 at Washington Christian Village. She was born July 14, 1916 in Glasford, IL to Floyd and Velma Magness Shryock. She married Cecil Clauson on November 16, 1946 in Pekin. He preceded her in death o on May 22, 1988. Surviving are three children, Cathy (Gary) Lisman of Washington, Donna (Cowser) of San Diego, CA, and Dr. Gary Clauson of Costa Mesa, CA; granddaughter, Lisa (Jeff) Helms; and four great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Leola Shryock; and an infant son, Terry Clauson. During World War II, Virgie worked for the US Army at Camp Ellis in Fulton County, IL. In her later years, she worked for many years as a cafeteria worker for Peoria Public Schools. Cremation rites have been accorded by Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Inurnment will be at Lancaster Cemetery at Glasford, IL at a later date.
