Obituary Peoria- Victor L. Hanley, 66 of Peoria, passed away at 2:25 AM on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Victor was born on July 5, 1946 in Monmouth, IL to the late James F. and Josephine A. (Shawgo) Hanley. Victor married Carolyn Holsinger on September 1, 1967 in Cameron, IL. She survives. Also surviving are one son and two daughters, Ronald (Connie) Hanley of Peoria, Rhonda (Rodney) Davis of Galesburg and Wanda Fraser of Manassas, VA; three grandchildren, Brendan and Brynn Fraser and Marshall Thompson; three brothers, Don (Rose) Hanley of Galesburg, John Hanley of Monmouth, IL and Jim Hanley of St. Louis, MO; a sister, Sandra Hanley of Galesburg, IL; several nieces and nephews. Victor was preceded in death by three brothers: Richard, James and Eugene Hanley and a sister, Josephine Gash and two sons: Victor Jr. and Donald. Victor served proudly in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his time in the military he was a truck driver for many years and following his retirement he was a volunteer driver for veterans going back and forth from Iowa City. He was a member of VFW Post #2257 in Galesburg. He enjoyed playing Bingo, thrift shopping, watching old western films and using the computer. His favorite pastime of all however was spending time with his family. Committal Service with Military Honors will take place at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL. Rev. Linda Foreman will officiate. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 20 from 9-10 AM at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria.
