Obituary

Vickie Howard, 71, of Roanoke, formerly of Washington, passed away Tuesday, September 8th at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born March 9, 1955 in Peoria to the late Carl and Sarah (Clark) Ulmer.  She married Stephen M. Howard in Peoria on June 11, 1982.  He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Stephanie (Dustin) Brecklin; one son, Michael Howard; four grandchildren, Paige and Kaeden Brecklin, Mikayla and Briella Howard; one sister, Kathy (Bill) Kelch; one brother, Ronnie (Jeanne) Ulmer; and several nieces and nephews.  She was also preceded in death by one brother, Michael Davis.

Vickie's main joy was raising and spending time with her family. She took enormous pride in being a wife, mother and grandmother. Her love for her family was never-ending and she was our greatest cheerleader. The pride she carried for her kids and grandkids successes was palpable when she talked to anyone, including strangers, about us all.

In her more healthy years, she was an avid traveler. From the many visits to California to visit Mike and the girls, to taking Paige and Kaeden to Cocoa Beach; it was spending time on vacation with her family that brought her the most joy.

Vickie embraced life with an incredible outlook. She had a unique ability to see life through a very youthful lens. This was the character trait that made her such a fun and loving mom and grandma. She loved her family with her entire heart and soul and she was always driven to be helpful to others when she could. She was forever grateful for her life, family and friends. She will be dearly missed.
