Obituary Washington - Vernon L. Davis, 90, of Washington, passed away at 10:45p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born February 13, 1926 to Basil and Sarah Opal (Taylor) Davis in Time, IL. He married Betty Jean Cooley on September 16, 1949 in Pittsfield, IL; she preceded him in death on January 4, 2016 Surviving are 2 daughters, Vicki (Reace) Cooper of Peoria, Candy (Kim) Orton of Washington; 1 son, Mike Davis of East Peoria; 4 granddaughters; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents and brother, Keith Davis. Vernon served in the US Navy from 1944-1946. He retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. in 1992 after 41 years of service. He enjoyed life to the fullest and always had the brightest smile. Such a contented and joyful man. He loved his wife, family and friends unconditionally. His memorial service will be at 6:00 pm Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, with Rev. Joey Watt officiating. Visitation will be from 4-6:00pm Tuesday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded.
