MORTON-Vearl G. Dillon, 73, of Morton, IL died at 7:53 pm Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Pekin Hospital in Pekin, IL.
Born on March 15, 1938 in Carlisle, IN to Orba and Geneva Hallett Dillon, he married Barbara N. Westhafer on December 1, 1956 in Carlisle, IN. She survives.
Also surviving are 3 sons, Brian (Diane) Dillon of Rochelle, VA, Doug (Judy) Dillon of Moore, OK, Matt (Theresa) Dillon of Washington, IL; 1 daughter, Dawn Dillon of Morton, IL; his mother-in-law, Mildred Westhafer of Farmington, IL; 6 grandchildren, Josh (Anna) Dillon, Jessica Dillon, Jared Dillon, Cody Dillon, Tanner Dillon, Lane Dillon; 2 great-granddaughters, McKenna Dillon and Madison Dillon; 2 pets, Simon and Winston; 1 sister, Delores Shepler of Carlisle, IN; 4 sisters-in-law, Mary (Dayton) Dorey of Punta Gorda, FL, Linda Lappin and Nila (Don) Hammerick, both of Bartonville, IL, Mrs. Kathy Westhafer of Marquette Heights, IL; 5 brothers-in-law, Gary (Kathy) Westhafer and Bobby (Sheila) Westhafer, both of Glasford, IL, Duane (Becky) Westhafer of Washington, IL, Lex (LeAnn) Westhafer of Glasford, IL, Terry (Lori) Westhafer, of Peoria, IL and many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Samuel Dillon, 2 brothers-in-law, Jim Westhafer and Rex Westhafer, and 1 sister-in-law, Anna Dillon.
Vearl worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in East Peoria for 31 years as a brake press operator in building LL, retiring in 1991. He also worked for Nestle in Morton for 13 seasons. Vearl enjoyed camping, traveling, meeting new people, and never met a stranger!
Funeral services will be at 6 pm Monday, October 24, 2011 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Pastor Dwight Winnett will officiate. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to services at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded after the funeral service.
