Obituary Twila Mae Simpson, 83, of Washington, died October 7, 2006, at OSF St. Clare in Peoria Heights. Born on May 19, 1924, in Smithfield, IL, to Grover and Lena (Munson) Beaird, she married Thomas J. Simpson on December 10, 1944. He preceded her in death on February 11, 1982. She is also preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and one brother. Surviving are one son, Thom (Linda) Simpson of Germantown Hills; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Mark) Schellenberg of Oswego, IL and Tyler (Andrea) Simpson of Redmond, WA, five great grandchildren, Caleb, Joshua, Matthew, Megan and Emma Schellenberg, two sisters, Audrey Pickel and Charlotte Beaird, both of Bartonville, and four brothers, William (Evelyn) Beaird of Canton, Grover (Joan) Beaird of Canton, Doyle Beaird of Bartonville, and Duane Beaird of Creve Coeur, and several nieces and nephews. She worked as a self employed beautician in the Peoria area until she retired and moved to Mt. Home, AR in 1977. She returned to Washington, IL in 1999. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:00 AM at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. Rev. Bob Donaldson will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Monday at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. Burial will follow at Howard Cemetery in Smithfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Northern Tazewell Rescue Squad or the Golden Agers Club of Leisure Acres in Washington.
