Obituary WASHINGTON-Thomas Allen Sawchuk, 11, of Washington, IL, died at 6 pm Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center emergency room in Peoria. He was born on September 8, 2000 in Maywood, IL to Eric R. and Gina A. Paluska Sawchuk. Surviving are his mother and step-father, Gina & Michael Barclay of Washington, IL; his father, Eric R. Sawchuk of Brookfield, IL; brother, Daniel Sawchuk and sister, Grace Sawchuk, both of Washington; 2 half-brothers, Justin Krope and Richard Sawchuk and half-sister, Saralynn Sawchuk, all of Brookfield; 4 step-sisters, Rachel Barclay of Washington DC and Grace (Isaac) Willems, Hope (Sean) Steinle, and Rebekah Barclay, and step-grandmother, Donna Barclay, all of Lawrence, KS; grandparents, Tom & Bev Paluska of Washington and Susan Sawchuk of Brookfield; great-grandparents; Ralph Gauwitz of Peoria and Goldie Paluska of Washington and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Nicholas Sawchuk, Tom Paluska Sr. and Virginia Gauwitz. Thomas enjoyed participating in many activities including cub scouts, karate, baseball, skateboarding, football, basketball, and anything else that included being outdoors. He was an altar boy at St. Patrick Church and loved to sing in the church choir. Thomas was a minor league batboy in the Northern League and was also involved with Impact Junior High Youth Group at Crossroads United Methodist Church. To all who knew him, he was proud to be a comedian and a self-proclaimed "stud-muffin"! Thomas was a 5th grader at Washington Middle School and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington where a funeral mass will be at 10 am Monday, November 21, 2011. Visitation will be from 2-5 pm Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
