Obituary EAST PEORIAa"Thomas C. "Arky" Oliver, 80, of East Peoria died at 1:42 PM on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on March 1, 1930 in Waldo, AR to William Thomas and Minnie Harris Oliver. He married his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Ann Odum, on June 11, 1960 in East Peoria, IL. She survives. Also surviving are his son, Thomas L. Oliver and daughter, Anita (Scott) Burdette, both of East Peoria; 1 granddaughter, Erika Burdette of East Peoria; and 1 sister, Rosie Lee Oliver of Little Rock, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, and 1 granddaughter. He was a US Marine Corps veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. Tom worked as a machinist and foreman with Hiram Walker & Sons in Peoria for 33 years before his retirement in 1981 when they closed the plant. He enjoyed gardening, canning, camping with his family, and traveling for many years. Tom also loved Seek & Find Puzzle Books. Tom was a member of the AF & AM Pekin Lodge #29 for over 50 years, and was a life member of the Royal Arch Masons, Pekin Chapter #25. A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home in East Peoria. Burial will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria, where military rites will be accorded by the US Marine Corps.
