Obituary

Obituary East Peoria - Theodore "Ted" Mervosh, 77, of East Peoria, died Saturday, September 20, 2008 at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Ted was born November 2, 1930 in Carlinville, Illinois to Emmanuel "Mike" and Lora (Kessinger) Mervosh. He graduated from Manual High School in Peoria in 1949. He married Phyllis McCarty on November 20, 1954 in East Peoria. Ted is survived by his wife Phyllis and two sons, Steven (Jane) Mervosh of Rochester, Minnesota and Todd (Lynn) Mervosh of Suffield, Connecticut. Ted has a grandson Jeffrey Mervosh (23) in Arlington, Virginia, and granddaughters Lisa Mervosh (20) in Granville, Ohio, and Anna Mervosh (7) in Suffield, Connecticut. He is also survived by his sister Rosalie Remington of Peoria and by Phyllis' six brothers and one sister. He is Uncle Ted to many nephews and nieces, and numerous great nephews and great nieces, mostly in the Peoria area. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Paul Brown, and two sisters, Dorothy McKinley and Georgia Basler. Ted was employed by LeTourneau Westinghouse Co. of Peoria in Engineering Records and Time Study for 8 years, and was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Peoria and East Peoria for 32 years. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. Ted coached Little League baseball teams in East Peoria for several years. He enjoyed nearly 20 years of retirement, which included traveling with Phyllis to visit their children and grandchildren. His friendly, reliable, honest and supportive nature has touched and influenced many people. Ted will be missed greatly, but will always be remembered fondly. Services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. Rev. Bob Donaldson will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at the funeral home, with additional visitation from 10-10:30 am Wednesday. Burial will be in Spring Bay Cemetery. Memorials may be made to The Christian Center, 4100 N. Brandywine Dr., Peoria, IL, 61614; Grace Alive c/o Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria; or to Eastside Community Baseball Program in East Peoria.
