Obituary
EAST PEORIA- Terry Wayne Tucker, 73, of East Peoria, passed away on March 3, 2016 at 3:25A.M. at Kindred Hospital in Peoria, due to complications associated with pneumonia and COPD.
Terry was born on February 27, 1943 in Janesvsille, WI to Lawrence and Janell Castle Tucker. He married Deloris "Dee" Linn on April 15, 1962 in East Peoria. She survives.
Together, they had three children, Troy Tucker (who passed away in 1983), Cindy Church and Tracy "Boomer" Tucker, both of East Peoria.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, Blake (Danielle) Naramore, Jake Naramore, Jordan (Brett Smith) Tucker, and Sarah (Kurt) Baumgardner; five great-grandchildren, Leighton Baumgardner, Makinzi and Aubree Naramore, Logan and Ava Bury; one brother, Denny (Martha) Tucker, sister-in-laws, Carolyn Tucker, Nancy (Dale) Musselman, Glenda (Bob) Hrdlicka, and Louise (Van) Havel; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Troy; in-laws, Floyd and Mellie Linn; one brother, Alan "Bud" Tucker; son-in-law, Greg Church; sister-in-law, Shar Newell; brother-in-law, James Linn; two nieces, Denise Havel and Heather Tucker; and one nephew, Jeff Newell.
Terry graduated from East Peoria Community High School in 1961. He worked for Waugh Frozen Foods for 14 years and owned and operated Tucker's Four Liquor Store for 12 years. He also owned Tucker's Inn for 20 years. He served on the East Peoria City Council from 1983-1991. Terry was the Fondulac Road Commissioner from 1993, until his retirement in 2005.
He was active on the board of directors and contributed to the building of Eastside Center. He served on the Northern Tazewell District Board from 1985-2007, and held the title as president for several years. He was a member of the Hilton Masonic Lodge #1143 in East Peoria, receiving his 50 year pin; he served as Master from 1972-1973. He was also a member of Eastern Star #1002, Scottish Rite Valley of Peoria, Mohammed Shrine and Broilers, and a past member of Jesters. He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting and fishing at the family log cabin in Missouri. He always enjoyed Wednesday night Barber Shop Supper Club and his beloved dog, Neb.
His family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to him. He loved spending time with them hunting, fishing, enjoying the outdoors and teaching them about safety when handling firearms.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital- Midwest Affiliate, Shriners Hospitals for Children, or Apostolic Christian Timber Ridge in Morton.
A memorial service for Terry will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church of East Peoria. Pastor Mary Arnold will officiate. Masonic Services will be held at 3:00 P.M, with the memorial service immediately following. A visitation will be prior to the service, from 12:00 P.M.-3:00 P.M. at the church. Inurment will be at a later date in Missouri.
The family would like to thank everyone for all the thoughts and prayers they received during this time. Also, thank you to OSF Medical Center and Kindred Hospital for the excellent care Terry received throughout his time there.
