Susan Jean Widmer, 81, of Washington, passed away at 11:17 am Monday, February 28, 2022 at the Villas of Holly Brook in Washington.

She was born November 19, 1940 in Peoria, IL to Robert V. and Catherine W. Hunt Lyon.  Susan was raised by her mother and Donald Schraeder who she considered to be her father.

She married Donald W. Widmer in Peoria on July 19, 1958.  He preceded her in death on March 17, 2011.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Connie; son, Bob; two brothers, Bob and Mick; and brother-in-law, Paul.

Surviving are three children, Cathleen (Duane) Widmer, Sheila (Pat) Weisbruch, Mark (Carrie) Widmer; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ed (Eileen) Schraeder, Thomas (Cheryl) Schraeder, Rick Schraeder; two sisters, Eva Daily and Donna Curry; and sister-in-law, Debbie Schraeder.

Susan was a graduate of Academy of Our Lady in Peoria, class of 1958.  She worked at St. Patrick School and as a CNA at Washington Christian Village before retiring, however most of her years were devoted to working hard as a homemaker for her family. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington.

Susan was a devoted wife who was never too busy for any anyone in need. The most important things in her life were her faith and her family. Along with her husband Don she was always available to help with the very most important times in life of her loved ones, as well as the routine tasks we all face.

She enjoyed her time at the Villas of Holly Brook where she met many new friends and was very involved in committees.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30am Friday, March 4, 2022 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.  Father John Steffen will officiate.  Visitation will be from 10am to 11:30am on Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.  Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church or South Side Mission.
