Sue
Evans
Feb 10, 1933 — Nov 25, 2022
Sue Evans, 89, of Washington, IL, formerly of Spencer, IA, stepped into her heavenly home at 10pm Friday, November 25, 2022 at Cedarhurst of Washington, in Washington, IL.
She was born February 10, 1933 in Miami, OK to Walter and Winifred Hobbs Skaggs. She had the honor of being married to two godly and faithful men during her lifetime. Sue married Calvin Meyer on January 1, 1953 in Miami, OK, and they worked on the farm together in Northwest Iowa during their married life. He preceded her in death on October 19, 1987. Sue later married Arthur Evans on June 27, 1993, in Spencer, IA. They enjoyed watching football and basketball games together, and they would play pranks on each other for fun. He preceded her in death on April 27, 2021. She was also preceded in death by her parents; step-daughter, Jane Evans; step-son-in-law, Rodney Rouse; and one step-great-grandchild.
Surviving are three daughters, Diane (Mike) Blum, Deidre (Richard) Drees, Denise (Chad) Bailey; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four step-children, John Evans, Althea Rouse, Curt (Cari) Evans, Ken Evans; five step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Sue was a homemaker and a Shaklee distributor for many years while living in Iowa. While growing up, she was extremely proud of not missing a day of school for all 13 years. She was also proud of her Cherokee Indian heritage. Sue didn't know a stranger and would speak to anyone who was near her. She placed her faith in Jesus Christ at a young age, and she told her friends at Cedarhurst that she was at peace because she knew exactly where she was going when she left this life.
Sue was a member of the First Baptist Church at 1200 Grand Ave. in Spencer, IA 51301 where her Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, December 3, 2022. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service starting at 10am Saturday at the church. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, IL is assisting the family with arrangements.
