Obituary EAST PEORIA - Steven G. Vicary, 72, of East Peoria, IL, died at 2:25 pm Sunday, January 31, 2016 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL. Born on March 4, 1943 in Peoria, IL, he was a son of George W. and Mary Cecelia Hirner Vicary. He married Rochelle K. Grob on April 10, 1964. He and Rochelle had four children: Carey (Keith) Moore of Metamora, IL, Scott Vicary of Byron, IL, Mike (Lisa) Vicary of Metamora, IL, and Eric (Kristi) Vicary of North Pekin, IL. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Kimberly (Michael) Hoffman, Samantha and Jenna Moore, and Marc, Allie, Drew, and Trevor Vicary; and one sister, Shelly (Ken) Perhay of Metamora, IL. Rochelle preceded him in death along with his parents and one sister, Patricia Honegger. He later married Janice "Jan" J. Bernius, on November 18, 1989 at St. Mary's Church in Metamora, IL. She survives. Steve is also survived by his step-son, Brian Seckler of Peoria, IL. Steve was a gentle, easy going man that greatly loved his family and friends. He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's music, art and sporting events. Most recently, he very much enjoyed attending canine competitions with his son, Scott. He loved vacationing with his dear friends, Larry and Ingrid Cooksey. Steve also enjoyed genealogy, woodworking and golfing. He was secretary for Golf League 306 for many years. Steve looked forward to his monthly lunches with his Spalding High School buddies. He was a machine repairman at Caterpillar, Inc., Mossville, IL for 34 years, retiring on May 1, 1997. In his retirement, he worked part time for Advanced Technology Services, last working April 2013. Steve was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Peoria. A funeral mass for Steve will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 12:00 noon at Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria. Father Neri Greskoviak will officiate. There will be a visitation prior to the service, from 9:30A.M.-12:00 noon at the mausoleum. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. Ann's Catholic Church, Volunteer Services at Illinois Cancer Care, or OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
