Steve
Archer
Mar 11, 1956 — Jul 5, 2024
Steve Archer, 68, of Washington, passed away Friday, July 5, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born on March 11, 1956 in Macomb, IL to the late Frank and Elsie (Skiles) Archer. He married Kristi Mitchell on October 27, 1984 in Peoria, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are his siblings, Scott (Cheryl) Archer and Jill (Lynsey) Lynn; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.
Steve was a big supporter of The Salvation Army, claiming the Peoria Citadel Corps as his home for church and Emergency Disaster Services in Pekin as his home base for volunteering. He would do whatever asked, from cleaning the facility or vehicles to helping assist with the sack lunch program to feed the homeless. Without hesitation and with 100% "all in" attitude, he was presented with the Volunteer of the Year award. In his spare time, he had an unquenchable passion for crossword puzzles, playing solitaire on his phone and reading The Wall Street Journal where he developed a fondness for following the financial markets. However, all of this paled in comparison to the love he had for his family, from his 4 legged boys, to siblings, to nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and all of his cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, American Cancer Society/Stem Cell Transplant research or to the animal shelter of the donor's choice.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Major Heath Sells will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7:00pm Friday, July 19, 2024 also at the funeral home. There will be a repast immediately following the funeral at The Salvation Army located at 2903 W. Nebraska Ave. in Peoria. All are invited to join family and friends there.
