Obituary Washington - Stephen Hunter Parkhurst, 63, of Washington died Sunday May 4, 2014 at 6:46 PM at OSF St Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on March 23, 1951 in Peoria to Arthur E. and Mildred Hunter Parkhurst. He married Kathleen Ochs on September 11, 1971 in Peoria Heights, IL. She survives. He is also survived by four children, Stephen Hunter (Jodi) Parkhurst II of Joliet, Christine E. (Mindy Bonner) Parkhurst of East Peoria, Amanda S. Parkhurst of Washington, Samantha R. (Ravy) Than of Washington; eight grandchildren, Victoria, Isabell, Abigail, Ashton, Rowan, Bopah, Shawn, and Nari; and four step-grandchildren, Brittany, Brandy, Jade and Jedediah. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was part owner of Hunter's Lunch in Peoria for twenty years and he later worked for the Peoria Housing Authority for ten years in maintenance. He loved woodworking and was a skilled cabinet maker. Stephen was also a gunsmith. He was of the Catholic faith. There will be a memorial service for Stephen on Friday May 9, 2014 at 6 PM at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Father Steve Willard will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association.
