Obituary
WASHINGTON - Stephanie N. Seckman, 41, of Washington, IL, died at 3:52 am Sunday, August 16, 2009 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
After courageously enduring a two year battle with cancer, Stephanie Noel Seckman passed into life eternal being cradled in her loving mothers arms while surrounded by her family members. Through this time of trial and hardship, she maintained a constant attitude of hope and faith. Her good nature and willing attitude never wavered, while all the time coupled with the deepest love for her family and friends.
Born on December 28, 1967 in Peoria, IL to Robert and Sharon Henry Buysse, she married Don C. Seckman on October 12, 2002 in Washington, IL. He survives.
Also surviving are her son, Elliott Raymond Seckman at home, 3 step-children, Melissa Seckman of Green Valley, IL, Matthew Seckman of Nashville, TN, and Meredith Seckman of St. Louis, MO, 1 sister, Barb Buysse and 1 brother, Rob (Bridget) Buysse, both of Washington, IL, nieces and nephews, Robby, Alex, and Sam Buysse, Jordan and Jackson Keran, step-grandchildren, Miranda, Alexia, and Michael, and her great-great aunt, Erma Kemper of Washington.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Stephanie was a 1986 graduate of Washington Community High School and received a Bachelor Degree in Dietetics from Illinois State University. She worked at Cohen's Furniture in Peoria for more than 15 years. She later graduated from Illinois Central College School of Nursing and then worked at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in the Intermediate Medical/Surgical area for 7 years, last working in April 2009.
She was a lifetime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington. Stephanie participated in the Above and Beyond Program at OSF St. Francis, the Race for the Cure, and was a 2008 and 2009 participant in the Relay for Life in Washington. She was a loving and dedicated mom to her son, Elliott.
A funeral mass will be at 10 am Thursday, August 20, 2009 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington. Father Joseph P. Donton will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, where a prayer service will be at 7:45 pm. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
