Solange M. Wahl, 88, of Washington, IL passed away peacefully with her family by her side at her daughter's home in Stafford, Virginia on Thursday, February 1, 2024.

She was born May 4, 1935 in Dompierre-sur-Mer, France to the late Jean and Madeleine (Gassueu) Proux.  She married Harry O. Wahl on August 8, 1959 at St. Bernard's church in Peoria, IL.  He preceded her in death on November 4, 2021 in Washington, IL.

Surviving are five daughters, Brenda (Virgil) King, Susan Reilly, Monica (Frank) Moore, Angela (David) Schumacher, Tamara (Troy) McBurney; one son, John (Lori) Wahl; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Jeannette Ferrand; and one nephew, Frederic Ferrand.

Solange worked for the United States Army in France where she met the love of her life, Harry, and they were married for 62 years. She proudly became a U.S. citizen on December 16th, 1966. She was always very involved with her children and supported their many activties to include being a band parent at the Washington Community High School for many years.  She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington for over 50 years and sang in the choir for over 35 years.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington on Wednesday, February 7th at 10am.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7pm Tuesday evening at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.  Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
