Obituary Norman "Skip" J. Toft, 76, of Sunnyland, passed away at 2:02pm, Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Skip was born December 25, 1937 in Peoria to Arthur and Dorothy Rusk Toft. He married Elsa Bamber on November 4, 1956 in Chillicothe; she survives. Also surviving are their children, Laura Toft of Springfield, MO, James A. Toft of Bartonville, Wendy Armentrout of Canton, and Scott (Samantha) Toft of East Peoria; grandchildren, Kelly (Jason) Hudson and Katie (Ryan) Widmer , whom he raised, Justin and Jessica Armentrout, Logan and Zack Toft, and Grayson and Oliver Toft; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ron Toft of Oregon, Richard Toft of Sunnyland, and Judy Toft of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jerry Toft; and a grandchild, Dakota Jordan Toft. Skip graduated from Manual High School. He went on to work as a glass cutter for many companies, including PPG, Quinn Glass & Mirror, Bacon & Van Buskirk, Melton Glass, and Kelly Glass. He loved traveling with his family and attending their activities. Gardening and baseball were other hobbies he enjoyed. He was very patriotic and enjoyed spending time with his friends. A memorial service for Skip will be held at 1pm, Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria. Visitation will be from 5-7pm, Friday, March 7, 2014 at the funeral home, and one half hour prior to the service Saturday. Cremation rites have been accorded, and Rev. Jason Hudson will officiate.
