Obituary Shirley Jean Snyder, 82, of Washington, passed away at 4:23 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born January 14, 1933 in Peoria, IL to Burley G. and Libbie J. Easton Matthews. She married Walter Jr Snyder. He preceded her in death in 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Matt Wineinger; two granddaughters; brother, Bud Hackett; sister, Ann Phillips; and step-son, Fred. Surviving are three children, Paula Hill of Peoria Heights, Beth (Steve) Yagel of Richmond, VA, JW Snyder of Downs; step-daughter, Pam Miller, two step-sons, Kip and Ted Snyder; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Dolores Otten of Washington and Geraldine (Jim) Shurts of Peoria. She worked as a telephone operator for AT&T before retiring. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate. Shirley attended St. Monica's Catholic Church in East Peoria where a Memorial Mass will be held for her at 11 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2015 with Fr. Julius Turyatoranwa officiating. Family will receive friends one hour before services on Friday at the church. Private burial will be at Richmond Grove Cemetery in New Holland, IL. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is in charge of arrangements.
