Obituary East Peoria- Shirley J. Palmer, 80, formerly of 221 Timber Lane, East Peoria died at 8:15 am Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Bel-Wood Nursing Home in Peoria. She was born in Peoria on October 22, 1928 to Austin and Opal Obyjartel. She married Gerald E. Palmer on January 7, 1949 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on January 24, 1985. Surviving is her son Marty and wife Jayree Palmer of Peoria. Shirley worked as a clerk for Central Illinois Light Company at 316 Jefferson Street in Peoria. She was a former election judge, member of the Robein Civic Club, and was a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church in East Peoria. A graveside service for Shirley will be held on Friday, March 6, 2009 at 2:30 PM at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria. Visitation will be held prior to the services on Friday from 1-2 PM at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. Memorials in her name may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
