Shirley Ann Henderson (Roby), 74, of Washington, IL, formerly of Alpha, IL, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at Washington Senior Living.

She was born in Peoria, IL on March 17, 1951 to the late Lyle Roby Sr. and Vivian (Bridges) Trompke. She graduated from Morton Township High School in 1969. Shirley then went on to Hi-Fashion Beauty College in Peoria, IL and graduated in 1970. She married Ron Henderson on February 23, 1974 in Hopedale, IL. He preceded her in death on February 19, 2019, just days away from celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary. She was also preceded in death by her nephew, Shawn Roby.

She is survived by her children, Jeff (Rachel) Henderson of Alpha, IL and Cari (Jared) Shorter of Washington, IL; her brother, Lyle (Cindy) Roby Jr. of East Peoria, IL; three nieces; two nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Shirley started her career off as a hairstylist in East Peoria, IL. After the family moved to Alpha, IL in 1986, she held various jobs at the Woodhull Pioneer Seed Corn facility until she retired on March 17, 2013.

For many years, Shirley and her close friend Cindy Justus, would go on their annual two week trip to Florida. They would meet up with their friends Kay Sykes and Bonnie Cooper in Daytona Beach Shores. They would also visit their close friend Kathie "Mitchell" Finch and her brother Lyle and his wife Cindy while in the area. She always looked forward to those trips and shared some of her fondest memories. Shirley was also an avid fan of soap operas, the Game Show Network, and Survivor. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at the Freedom Hall located at 349 W. Birchwood St Morton, IL 61550.
