Obituary WASHINGTONa"Shirley J. Hayes, 80, of Washington, IL, died at 3:45 PM on Friday, February 1, 2008 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria, IL. Born on June 10, 1927 in Peoria, IL, to Charles and Martha Glaczenski Hersemann, she married Francis "Frank" J. Hayes on November 25, 1950 in Peoria. He survives. Also surviving are 3 daughters, Sue (Gary) Cleveland of Germantown Hills, IL, Nancey DeSola of Chandler, AZ, and Debbie (Mark) Welch of Washington, IL; 1 sister, LaVada (Edwin) Fron of Washington, IL; and 4 grandchildren, Matthew (Sara) Cleveland, Brett Cleveland, Caitlyn DeSola and Cameron Welch. She was preceded in death by her parents. Shirley had been an Inventory Central Clerk at Caterpillar Tractor Co. from 1946-1950. She enjoyed reading, cooking and weaving as well as bowling and golfing. There will be a memorial service at 7 PM on Monday, February 4, 2008 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. The Rev. Jeff Browning will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Monday at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.
